Dr. Houck received a Bachelors of Science in Biology and a Bachelors of Arts in Chemistry from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 2003. In 2007, she graduated from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. She practiced companion animal veterinary medicine in Houston for several years before moving to the Roanoke area in 2011. Dr. Houck's veterinary interests include dermatology, behavior , nutrition, and small mammals. 

When she is away from the office she focuses on her creative writing career and spends time with her three cats and German Shepherd.
